Message from Head of School
Thank you for your interest in PSD!
The PennsylvaniaSchool for the Deaf is the third oldest school for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the United States. With a long, rich history of inspiring and teaching students with varying degrees of hearing loss, PSD is moving to the cutting edge of education integrating technology, best practices, and high expectations for all of our students from birth through the end of high school in preparation for further education, careers, and life.

What makes PSD so special? PSD is a school of success stories like no other. Growing up can be hard enough for anyone--now imagine not sharing a common language, not being able to express yourself, or continually feeling and looking different than your peers--at PSD students are never “the only” or “the different” one. PSD students have a truly inclusive community and are given high expectations and then mentored and guided by other successful deaf and hard of hearing role and language models. PSD students have the freedom to be themselves, gain confidence and knowledge, and learn without boundaries so they can succeed joyfully in a mostly hearing world. PSD’s dedicated faculty and staff have created an incredible community that feels as much like family as it does school. Every student at PSD is given the opportunity to develop emotional, social and cognitive abilities that are crucial to realizing their true potential and identity and then is fueled by the spirit and inspiration that surrounds them to achieve their goals. PSD is more than just a school.
Come visit PSD and see for yourself. I would be thrilled to have you join the PSD community and participate in the exciting journey that this year will bring. Please don’t hesitate to contact me, drop in for a visit, come for a tour, and let me show you how amazing our school and our students truly are.
Welcome!
