High School

The Secondary Department is comprised of  9th-12th grades in our High School.  We also provide ongoing support for students who exercise the option to stay at PSD until age 21.

Building upon the social, emotional and practical skills developed in our ECC and E/MS programs, the Secondary Department's focus is largely academic, with the goal of post-secondary and/or vocational preparation. Our program offers academic courses; World of Work, a cooperative community experience in the work force; and athletics, student government and clubs to round out the rich educational experience offered at PSD.

Our department also utilizes our relationships with the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), which provides a vital link to various vocational programs such as Hiram G. Andrews (HGA) and the work-readiness program at the Center for Community and Professional Services (CCPS) to meet students' specific post secondary goals.  The Secondary program also connects students with colleges and universities by offering the ACT, and ultimately helps to prepare students for the transition to the real world.

We also have a new collaborative program under way with nearby Mercy Vocational High School http://www.mercyvocational.org whereby PSD High School Students with interest in a particular Vocational Program may attend classes at Mercy in one of the following fields:

Business Education

Framing Carpentry

Woodworking Carpentry

Computer Technician

Cosmetology

Culinary Arts

Residential and Commercial Electricity

Nursing Assistant

PSD students who participate in this program must commit to attending during all four years of high school and must have parental/guardian permission.

We believe that the strong foundation developed at PSD will propel our students into success in the future, linking them to boundless opportunity!
